It feels like it’s been a while since we last heard about the Uncharted movie, but screenwriter Joe Carnahan has just announced the script is complete and the project is ready to move forward.
As seen in the post above, Carnahan mentions that the Uncharted movie script is “a BEAST” and says it’s time for “the REAL work” to start.
For those that are unfamiliar with Carnahan, his previous work includes writing and directing movies such as Smokin’ Aces , The A-Team reboot and The Grey . While Carnahan has also directed many of the movies he has written in the past, he only wrote the screenplay for Uncharted . The director will be Stranger Things veteran Shawn Levy.
If you’re wondering who will take on the role of Nathan Drake, you aren’t going to like the next sentence. No casting decisions for the movie have been announced just yet. Fans have been mentioning they would like to see Nathan Fillion take the lead, but unfortunately, Fillion is a bit too old for the project. A few more popular names thrown around (by fans, so this is nothing official) include Bradley Cooper, Jensen Ackles and Chris Pratt. As for other characters, a popular opinion is for Bruce Campbell to play Sully. I agree, there’s no better casting choice.
As for when we’ll know more about the Uncharted movie, it seems we will just have to wait. There haven’t been any major announcements recently, nor have there been any announcements that announcements are coming. There could be some news coming out at this year’s E3, but that doesn’t seem like the place for Sony to make movie announcements, even if it is related to a popular video game.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see Uncharted come to life on the big screen? Do you think it’ll fall into the pit of terribleness like just about every other video game movie ever made? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
