Developer Iron Gate AB deployed a new beta update for Valheim just before the company heads out to celebrate the holidays. Beta Patch 0.212.9 is now available on the game’s public test branch.
This update brought some adjustments to the Ballista. For those who don’t know, the Ballista is a weapon that you can construct in Valheim, introduced in the Mistlands Update.
You can build a Ballista to defend your base or put it up anywhere you need to get some extra firepower. While it’s definitely useful, the Ballista requires pretty rare resources just to have it up and running. Not only that but one of its ammo needs Black Metal to craft - a highly valuable resource used to make other stuff in Valheim too.
Fortunately, the company has made the Ballista’s ammo recipes cheaper in Beta Patch 0.212.9. To make the Ballista worth your while, this thing’s fire rate has increased and its targeting behavior adjusted, with new sound effects added to let you know if it’s currently shooting at a target or that it has lost sight of the enemy.
In terms of improvements, this update implemented some changes to solve connectivity issues when using crossplay. Now, you’re less likely to get disconnected when playing with other people on different platforms.
