Virtus.pro announced that it's putting its entire Rainbow Six Siege roster on inactive status. The main reason was that the team had performed below expectations, compared to last year.
In a post, the organization revealed that there are many factors that contributed to this poor performance. One of these was the roster change which didn't work out as expected. Then, there was the effect on the team's morale when members had positive PCR tests just before the Six Invitational.
The organization hopes to rebuild the team before the new season starts in February 2022.
Roster Changes
The roster that goes on inactive status are composed by:
- Pavel "p4sh4" Kosenko
- Alan "Rask" Ali
- Andrey "m1loN" Mironov
- Eugene "karzheka" Petrishin
- Artyom "wTg" Morozov
Of the five members, Karzheka joined the team back in March of this year. He joined VP after being part of Rogue. Meanwhile, wTg had weird moves. From being an active player, he changed his role to coach in May. By June, he returned as an active player.
Six Invitational
For this major tournament, VP managed to enter the competition by placing fifth in the Global Points Standing. It was later found out that two members were positive for COVID-19. Because of this, the team was not allowed to take part in the tournament. They didn't go home empty-handed since they received 1% of the total prize pool, which corresponds to ranking 19th to 20th.
2021 Season
After not being able to join the Six Invitational 2021, the team didn't do too well in the new season. Its highest finish was third place during the Russian Major League Season 7, a C-Tier tournament.
It had two chances to join the Six Invitational 2022. For Open Qualifier 1, VP lost to HellRaisers 1–7. For Open Qualifier 2, the team was eliminated by DED Inside.
What about you? Is this a good move for VP? Hopefully, it finds the roster that suits the upcoming competitive season.
