The Walking Dead Season 7 introduced Negan to fans, but there’s another villain who might’ve been able to take him down before things got too far: The Governor.
David Morrissey recently told CinemaBlend his character The Governor was the best villain on the show. None of this Negan nonsense. What makes it worse is he make pretty valid arguments for Governor.
"I don't think there's a world where Negan and The Governor can exist together," Morrissey told CinemaBlend. "I think they would have to take each other on, and you know, it's obvious that there would be one winner in that, and that would be The Governor. I don't think there's any sane person that would argue against that."
Morrissey continued, "The Governor is the ultimate villain in the show, and there's been people that have come in and have sort of pretended to be like him, but no one's ever going to take that crown. And I think Negan certainly isn't going to take it - he's bad, but no one was like The Governor."
The thing about Negan is he’s too far gone at this point, while The Governor was not. Had Andrea listened to Michonne when she tried to tell her something was off about The Governor, maybe she could’ve convinced him to not attack the prison. The Governor cared about his people; for the most part people weren’t scared of him like they are Negan. The Governor did a great job of hiding his darkness.
The Governor ran a thriving community similar to The Kingdom. The people all had jobs and worked together to help each other survive. Had the governor not lost his mind towards the end, he might’ve turned into someone scarier than Negan.
However, Negan is definitely the better villain, at least in the comics. The show Governor was a bit more tame. The comic book Governor was wilder. Who is the better villain: Negan or The Governor? Let us know in the comments below. The Walking Dead Season 7 returns Feb. 12 on AMC.
