Carol’s storyline in The Walking Dead series has completely diverged from comics, but there’s one scene that may make it into Season 7.
Fans witnessed her slow descent into depression in The Walking Dead Season 6. Settling in Alexandria forced Carol to confront her demons and realize she’d done some terrible things to protect her own. She started keeping a log of all the people she’d killed since the zombie apocalypse. As her body count grew, so did the weight of guilt on Carol’s psyche .
We’ve seen Carol push through dark times, but not like this. In the comics, a much younger Carol starts to lose herself after she catches Tyrese cheating on her with Michonne. Carol begins to feel alone and isolates herself. She throws herself at Lori and Rick so she doesn’t have to be lonely, but they both decline her advances.
Eventually comic book Carol just gives up on living. She ties a walker to a post and lets the walker eat her alive.
We might see this side of Carol in The Walking Dead Season 7.
In the show, Carol has become an expert in hiding how her emotions and intentions, a quick-thinking chameleon capable of taking out anyone who gets in her way. However, she’s exhausted. Carol was ready to die when Morgan found her with the unnamed Savior. Morgan saved her, but Carol didn’t want to be saved.
Carol might do well in The Kingdom amongst Ezekiel’s people. She might want to stay. However, if Carol were to die in the show, it would be on her own terms. If she’s ready to join her daughter Sophia, there’s nothing anyone can do to stop her. Morgan might be able to save her, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the show decided to go with Carol’s comic book death in the character’s current state.
