AMC released a synopsis for the second half of The Walking Dead Season 7, and one detail in particular stood out. Apparently, fans will see new communities join the fight.
The relevant part of the synopsis reads:
"We'll meet new survivors in incredible places. We'll see Rick and the group tested in ways we've never seen before. We'll see treachery from people we trust. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army."
There are four communities right now: The Saviors, Alexandria, Hilltop and The Kingdom. We know Negan has outposts everywhere, so the size of the Saviors community is unknown. However, Hilltop, The Kingdom and Alexandria are about the same size. It appears The Kingdom is the best established community of the three.
So, who could these “new survivors” be? We know the Oceanside community exists and they’re no fans of Negan: he killed all of their brothers, sons and husbands to teach them a lesson. The women of this community decided to live in the middle of nowhere to make sure Negan could never get to them. But we know of their existence, so we don’t think they’re the new survivors.
This brings us to the mysterious person in boots teased at the end of The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 8. We first saw this mysterious person watching Aaron and Rick get to the boat in the middle of the water. The boat had many supplies on it and the two risked their lives in a walker-filled swamp to get it. The person also followed Rick and Aaron back to Alexandria. We saw this person hiding outside of the gates. Could this be the new survivor the synopsis is referring to?
If there is a new group of survivors, they are definitely not from the comic books. The All Out War storyline is a fight between Alexandria, Hilltop and The Kingdom against the Saviors. New communities don’t emerge until after the war is over.
