Rick Grimes doesn’t want to go on a killing spree in The Walking Dead Season 7. Well, at least not for a while.
Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick on the show, teased what’s to come in The Walking Dead Season 7 during an interview with ComicBook.com. Apparently, Rick isn’t going back to the dark days of the Ricktatorship. In fact, the leader of Alexandria might be taking a page out of Jedi Morgan’s playbook.
“I believe that there's a long way to go for Rick to be able to come to that conclusion,” Lincoln said. “I think he's been so hurt and has had so many of his friends violated and murdered in front of him that I think it's very difficult certainly for Rick to be able to make that judgment just yet.”
Lincoln added, “But certainly restraint has to be shown in this new world. I think as a leader, Rick is having to recalibrate how he is able to communicate in this new place. The great thing about Rick that's always been part of who he is is that he is open to new ideas and better ideas, and he's also willing to change.”
However, Lincoln also stated the last thing Rick wants is to see Negan rot in jail. No, he’d rather beat the crap out of him. As do we, Rick, as do we!
We also can’t help but think a world without Negan cannot exist. Rick needs Negan as a reminder of what can happen if you give into the madness. Whether he likes it or not, Rick is one bad day away from becoming Negan. Unlike the leader of the Saviors, Rick has people who check him when he gets out of line. Remember when Michonne punched his lights out in the streets of Alexandria because he was going crazy?
Rick is lucky he hasn’t lost his mind completely, especially knowing Judith isn’t actually his baby girl. The Walking Dead Season 7 returns Feb. 12 on AMC.
