It. Finally. Happened. Daryl and Carol had a brief, loving reunion during The Walking Dead Season 7. That said, the reunion left us feeling uneasy, and you should feel the same.
Daryl followed Ezekiel to Carol’s new residence. She lives just outside of the Kingdom with Morgan and Ezekiel paying her a visit every so often. For the most part, Carol’s getting the break she desperately needed from the violence. Carol was tired of the instinct she had to fight and kill. All the lives she took weighed heavy on her conscience; she needed to leave Alexandria to survive.
We knew it was only a matter of time before Daryl or Rick tried to locate Carol. In this case, it was Daryl who was able to track her down. Carol cried when she saw Daryl, who only had one question for her: Why did you leave? Carol gave Daryl her reasons, which he accepted. Then Carol asked if The Saviors found Alexandria.
This is where it gets interesting. Daryl lied to Carol; he told her everyone was safe and they were able to make a deal with The Saviors. Carol doesn’t know Glenn, Abraham, Spencer and Olivia are dead. Carol doesn’t know Alexandria is preparing for war.
This is not a good sign for Carol. The show teased something interesting with Daryl and Richard in The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 10. Richard told Daryl about his plan to take out Negan and blame Carol for the attack. He thinks Carol is strong enough to survive. Daryl was able to stop him, but what if Richard goes rogue and tries his plan again?
Richard could pull off the stunt and Carol might be captured. And if Carol tries to say “no, it wasn’t me, I’m with Alexandria and the Kingdom,” things will only get worse. Carol might unknowingly reveal The Kingdom and Alexandria are in contact with each other, which Negan doesn’t know. Negan promised to stay off of Kingdom territory as long as they provide for him, which they have without issue.
We are calling it now. Carol will have an encounter with the Saviors and not be prepared. She won’t necessarily think she’s safe, but she’ll believe they are at peace. Carol will accidentally reveal something vital to Alexandria’s cause, like that she knows about the Hilltop community and then be dragged into one last fight. We don’t think Carol will survive the war with The Saviors; she will break and it’ll be all Daryl’s fault for not preparing her when he had the chance, even if it was for a noble reason.
What do you will happen with Carol in The Walking Dead Season 7? Will she join the fight against the Saviors? Let us know in the comments below. The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
