If your main gripe about Watch Dogs was the hacking mechanics, then Ubisoft has something for you in Watch Dogs 2 . The latest gameplay footage reveals different ways to stealthily take down your enemies.
Watch Dogs 2 provides players with two big hacker tools : a phone for simple hacks and a laptop for more complex work. The laptop allows players to link up multiple hacks for bigger payoffs. For example, you’ll be able to whip out your laptop and use a drone to scope out an area.
Another cool change in Watch Dogs 2 is it is possible to stealth your way through most missions. You won’t need to open fire in area to get to your main objective. The emphasis really is on hacking, but you can engage in combat if you like. You’ll be able to 3D print weapons and build your arsenal that way. The main character, Marcus Holloway, has a default melee weapon, which is basically a metal ball and a power cord that does heavy damage.
Of course, Watch Dogs 2 is an open-world game and there are plenty of little things to explore. You have more options to customize Holloway’s look and hack into homes to see what the residents of San Francisco are up to.
However, no word as to whether Holloway will meet up with Aiden Pearce, but who really cares about the guy at this point? He’s probably retired in the middle of nowhere sulking in his trench coat. Even so, we are looking forward to the Ubisoft Easter Eggs in the game. In the first Watch Dogs , there were references to Abstergo from Assassin’s Creed . There was even a mission where players had to take down an Abstergo employee.
