SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is an upcoming fighting game packed with an all-female roster of combatants. The game will come to both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 this summer, and despite getting a release date ahead of time, we haven't really had a look at the game beyond a few screenshots and a launch trailer just yet.
Some off-screen footage of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy from EVO Japan 2018 has surfaced, thanks to YouTuber じぇふ. First up is a match between Athena and Kula versus Leona and Mai around 0:11 seconds in. At the 1:00 mark, you can watch Yuri and Mai tackle Kula and Athena. Finally, from 2:20 on, you can check out Leona and Kula versus Athena and Yuri.
The game, a spiritual successor to SNK Gals' Fighters back on the Neo Geo Pocket Color, features 14 fighters culled from SNK franchises King of Fighters and Art of Fighting . Women like Kula Diamond, Athena Asamiya, and Mai Shiranui are all duking it out for supremacy in the game, which features tag-team battles, magical girl-like special moves, and more.
You can use a special fighting style that uses just one button if you'd like, as well as special, bone-crushing moves called Dream Finishes. Similar to fatalities, Dream Finishes are meant to do big damage to your opponents, though it passes on all the blood and violence. You can also customize your favorite fighters by way of special items like clown noses or cute outfits that can be purchased. Think Sailor Moon crossed with your favorite fighting game and you've got a bit of an idea what's to come with SNK Heroines .
If you like what you see in the video, you can preorder SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy's special Diamond Dream Edition for PlayStation 4 or Switch, which comes with a mountain of goodies: an artbook, 2-disc soundtrack, lapel pin set, sleeveless shirt, "Fatal Cutie" cap, workout towel, wristband, and a collector's box. It's worth getting for the "Fatal Cutie" cap alone, to be honest.
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is scheduled for a PlayStation 4 and Switch release this summer, though there isn’t a concrete date just yet. Better get those fighting fingers warmed up though, just in case.
