If you’re a PC player, you’re probably wondering why some of the Skyrim mods you love aren’t working on the remaster. You’re also probably frustrated that some of your old game saves aren’t loading properly. Well, you’re not alone.
The answers are simple. Bethesda confirmed players will be able to load UNMODIFIED games into the Skyrim Special Edition on PC. If you’re trying to load a save with mods on your PC, you’re out of luck. You won’t be able to use that file in Skyrim Special Edition.
As to why other PC mods aren’t working on Skyrim Special Edition, you’re going to have a bit more patience with this one. The reason is your favorite modders probably haven’t had time to port the mod to the new system. Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda Game Studios, explained to iDigitalTimes there’s a new mod system for Skyrim Special Edition that requires modders to re-export their creations.
“It's a new mod system, but its similar. The modders will have to download the new creation kit that works with Skyrim Special Edition. It's 64-bit,” Howard told iDigitalTimes. “The ones that have the good mods and are involved with the community, they'll download the new 64 bit editor and make sure the new mods work. They'll have to re-export them for the audience playing Skyrim Special Edition.”
Give modders some time to test their creations on Bethesda’s new system. We’re sure your favorite mods will be available soon. The number of PC mods jumped from 88 to 98 within a few hours of the game’s release. However, if you’re playing on PS4, your mods won’t ever compare to Xbox One or PC. We’re just throwing that out there, because Sony sucks. Really, 1GB? Really, Sony? WHY?
