Captain America: Civil War had almost all of Marvel’s greatest heroes beating the crap out of each other, but where was the mightiest of them all? Thor, thunder god and pretty boy, was nowhere near the action in Cap’s third movie, so where was he? Marvel just released a video titled “Team Thor” that shows exactly what he’s been up to since he tangled with Ultron in Avengers 2 .
Turns out, Thor hasn’t been doing a hell of a lot. He went to Australia to relax and is now annoying a guy named Gary with all his free time. It’s a pretty funny video that pokes fun at the fact that the most powerful being among the Avengers just wasn’t around for Civil War. If Thor had been in that movie, he would’ve ended all of those fights in a mere instant.
The short also has a few cute easter eggs. Thor has a chart in his room trying to figure out what the “infinity stones” are and what that “purple dude on a chair” wants to do with them. We know Thanos is coming in the Avengers: Infinity War movie, so this is just a little teaser to keep true fans happy in the meantime.
We also see Mark Ruffalo explain why the Hulk didn’t make an appearance. Bruce Banner just didn’t want to get involved in their petty squabble. Can you blame him? You don’t want to use the Hulk unless you absolutely have to or else you might destroy Las Vegas .
The actual Thor wasn’t in the comic book version of Civil War either. At that point in Marvel’s history, Thor was considered dead and wouldn’t show up again for a few years. Instead, we got a robot version that went on a rampage and shot a lightning bolt through Goliath , a superhero whose sole purpose in the story was to die.
It made sense that Thor wasn’t in Captain America: Civil War, but it’s good to see Marvel still knows how to have a little fun.
