Picture this: you’re in the middle of an intense gaming session with your Xbox friends that has been going on for more than nine hours now. The room reeks of stale Doritos and Mountain Dew. One of your friends makes a move for another bowl of chips next to you when you clearly see him visibly cringe as he nears you. You realize that you smell pretty bad now.
Don’t you just hate it when this happens? What do you even do in this situation? Now, some would say that you just take a shower and overall just take better care of yourself, and not try to stagnate so much due to long hours of gaming. I would say, however, that those people are filthy casuals who clearly have never heard of an Xbox body spray.
That’s right, in a press release covered by Gamespot yesterday, it turns out that Microsoft has partnered with Lynx (Axe in some countries) to create a new line of fragrances and hygienic products called Lynx Xbox. Now, if that doesn’t sound appealing to you as an epic Xbox gamer who only drinks Mountain Dew gamer fuel, I don’t know what to say.
According to the description, the smell of Xbox is a mixture of “pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood.” Kidding aside, this mixture sounds pleasant, although I could do without the citrus-y scent from the lime and lemon. The product range features a body spray, a deodorant and a shower gel, which should keep you a fresh-smelling non-casual and very hardcore Xbox gamer.
Post-ironic culture dictates that a lot of people will make fun of this, but again, most of what I had to say above is just joking. I just like making fun of products aimed at ‘gamers,’ especially when they’re treated like an entirely different demographic when it comes to essentials like food, drinks, and this time, even hygienic products. That said, I have no doubt someone will actually buy this, instead of, you know, just run of the mill deodorant.
The Xbox Lynx will be made available starting July at grocery stores and pharmacies in Australia and New Zealand. There’s no official news yet if this will reach other parts of the world.
