Young Justice Season 3 will stream exclusively on the DC Entertainment streaming service in 2018 along with the live-action Titans series. The bad news is YJ producer Greg Weisman said we’ll have to wait until the fourth quarter.
Weisman was interacting with fans on Twitter when he specified the release date window, ranging from the second half of 2018 to the last quarter. He also confirmed Black Lightning would appear in the series. According to his tweet, the older man standing in the middle of the photo containing the older team members is not Aqualad. That’s surprising, considering Static Shock appears as part of the younger main cast and Black Lightning will have his own series on The CW.
When a fan asked what the DC streaming service would be called, Wiseman said he doesn’t know yet. He also revealed pre-production for Young Justice started in November 2016 and responded #NoClue #NotUpToMe” when a fan asked for a trailer release date.
At this point, it’s unclear if YJ's release date depends on the launch of DC’s streaming service, however, it seems likely. We can probably expect Warner Bros. to heavily promote the service before the premieres of both Titans and YJ, the former also planned for sometime in 2018. Warner Bros. may decide to release them both at the same to promote the service, or have them premiere separately in hopes of gaining more subscriptions.
Player. One’s Phillip Martinez was on the scene during San Diego Comic-Con to get the scoop on Young Justice’ s production thus far. He spoke to Art Director Phil Bourassa about Static, Beast Boy and Bart Allen’s return. At the panel, Weisman revealed Young Justice Season 3, titled “Outsiders,” will run 26 episodes and be geared more told an older audience due to less restrictions on DC’s streaming service opposed to Nickelodeon.
Static, Kid Flash (Bart Allen), Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal, Beast Boy, Artemis, Dick Grayson, Superboy and Black Lightning are the confirmed characters so far. The whereabouts of Miss Martian, Aqualad (and RIP Wally West) are still unclear.
