It’s been more than a week since Beyonce released her sixth studio album, Lemonade, and the gossip blogs are convinced that several songs hint that the singer’s husband, Jay-Z has been unfaithful. In particular, the album's second track “Hold Up,” is an uptempo, woman scorned tune, where Beyonce proclaims “What’s worst, looking jealous or crazy.” The song’s accompanying scene in the Lemonade visual album features Beyonce using her Louisville slugger bat called “Hot Sauce” to smash storefronts, cars and fire hydrants.
No doubt many will add “Hold Up” to their playlists about unfaithful lovers. But here’s four other songs to add to the breakup playlist.
“Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood
In “Before He Cheats,” Carrie Underwood sings about how she destroys her boyfriend’s car as he gets cozy with another girl in a bar. Underwood also uses a Louisville Slugger to exact her revenge, though her’s is unnamed. The music video shows a storm brewing behind in the background and lights sparking and glass windows shattering as the singer walks by.
“Bust Your Windows” by Jazmine Sullivan
In “Bust Your Windows,” Jazmine Sullivan also sings about destroying the car of a cheating boyfriend. In the music video we see the singer taking it a step further by trashing his apartment: shattering glass tables, pouring out expensive bottles of wine, and throwing high-end watches into a fish tank.
“Hit Em Up Style” by Blu Cantrell
In “Hit Em Up Style,” Blu Cantrell sings about going on a shopping spree with her cheating boyfriend’s credit card and selling his belongings in a garage sale.
“Irreplaceable” by Beyonce
In “Irreplaceable,” Beyonce sings about packing up the belongings of her unfaithful lover and calling him a cab as she collects the things she bought him. This song is a lot more mellow than “Hold Up,” but Beyonce is well known for her woman scorned songs.
