Absolver is one of the biggest surprises of 2017 -- a year that gave us NieR: Automata and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds -- delivering the rare fighting game experience that appeals to casual and diehard fans of the genre. So we’re thrilled to hear the game is going to see continued support from Sloclap. But we’d be a lot happier if that support was definitely going to include a meaningful expansion of Absolver ’s PvE content.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun published a new interview with Sloclap’s Pierre Tarno, creative lead for Absolver , outlining the studio’s plans for its online brawler. The good news is that early success, and ongoing support from the Absolver community, gives Sloclap some room to focus on future content drops (alongside the usual bug fixes). The bad news (for PvE players) is most of that content is tailored towards the PvP community. Tarno says the game world will continue to grow in future updates but the next round of map additions are all designed for PvP. And the future is less clear for new PvE content.
“[There’s] no ETA yet on new areas and bosses,” Tarno told RPS. “But it’s something that players request often so this is certainly something we’ll be looking into.”
Instead, the Absolver team will focus its efforts on new PvP, additional personalization content and a Prestige system. We don’t have any specifics yet but Tarno says there will be new PvP zones coming to Sloclap’s online melee action game in the near future. The creative lead also confirmed the Absolver team was investigating the lag issues experienced by many players and hopes to have fixes soon. Personalization content will run the gamut. There will be new items, including a number of unique and high-quality pieces only accessible to Prestige players. The only new addition Tarno would discuss was the pigmentation system, pretty standard for games that emphasize character customization, that lets players alter the colors of their equipment.
