Age of Empires IV is releasing this October 28 and there’s a lot to be excited about. This being the fourth installment to a successful franchise, expect many improvements that can eat up your PC's resources. The good news is that the developers at World’s Edge and Relic Entertainment made sure it could be enjoyed by a wide range of players.
In a post, the team revealed that they knew they had to release an RTS game, which would exceed the expectations of fans. One of the things they came up with was the Min Spec Mode which should allow players to experience the game despite having older machines. This mode is actually triggered through a combination of different in-game settings with help from the auto-detection system.
It should be obvious that the Min Spec Mode allows older machines to play the game for some trade-off. For example, the campaign can be playable though under lower resolution textures and simpler lightning.
