ABC has released the synopsis for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Season 4 episode 9, “Broken Promises.” It seems Agent Coulson and May’s romance will continue, but unbeknownst to Coulson, May is actually an LMD.
Though Coulson and May are growing closer, Coulson remains unaware of the dark secret May is hiding beneath the surface. Meanwhile, Aida is unrelenting in her search for the Darkhold.
The first half of Agents of SHIELD Season 4 was titled Ghost Rider . The midseason premiere will kick of the second story arc, LMD . The midseason finale revealed that at some point after Agent May was infected by the Darkhold, AIDA replaced her with another LMD. AIDA has been keeping the real may hostage and the rest of the team aren’t aware the real May is even missing. Take a look at the scene below:
As we’ve seen many times in the Marvel Universe, LMD’s never turn out as planned. All it took was one look at that Darkhold book for AIDA to become corrupt. Radcliffe was naive to think just because AIDA is a machine, the Darkhold’s power would be obsolete.
