The transition of Microsoft into a games publisher is now reaping the fruits as its latest release for the PlayStation 5, "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle," is selling faster than it did on the Xbox.

This performance was recently noticed by an analytics firm, with the sales of the game seeing a significant rise on the rivaling platform despite it being released earlier on the Microsoft console.

'Indiana Jones' Is Selling Faster on the PS5 Than on Xbox

A new report from analytics firm Alinea Analytics (via gaming analyst Rhys Elliott) revealed that a new study on "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" sales shows that it is currently selling faster for the PS5 than it did for the Xbox.

It is important to note that when Microsoft shared the "Indiana Jones" game to the PlayStation 5, the title was already four months old.

"Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" originally launched on December 9, 2024, for the Xbox Series S and X, as well as the Windows PC gaming platform, which meant that global players already had access to it since then.

This means that those who prefer gaming using the PlayStation as well as late adopters are the ones who are primarily purchasing the PS5 release.

That being said, one of the reasons for its success is because of the game itself as "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" has seen positive reviews on its story. Still, it is a significant milestone for the title to be able to capture the different audiences despite being released on separate platforms several months apart.

Why Did the Game Sell Slower for the Xbox?

According to the report, there is one factor that affected its sale on Microsoft's platforms. It was revealed that one of the reasons behind the slower sales on the Xbox is because of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

It is known that Microsoft made subsidiary Bethesda Softworks game available on the Xbox Game Pass on day one as part of its significant focus on the platform to be the premier service in gaming. This explains further why Xbox had slower sales compared to the PS5 as it was available on the Game Pass, which allowed existing subscribers to continue using the service instead of buying a copy of the game and for new subscribers to opt for the service to also access other titles.
