The 2D action adventure game Aggelos will receive physical edition launches for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch, as announced by publisher PQube and developer Wonderboy Bobi.
For those who aren’t familiar with the game, Aggelos is an action adventure RPG originally released for the PC in June 19, 2018. The game puts you in the middle of a colossal struggle for survival as beings from another dimension threaten to invade the peaceful Kingdom of Lumen.
Aggelos takes inspiration from the non-linear Japanese retro adventure game Wonder Boy In Monster World, employing retro graphics and gameplay, but with a touch of smoothness brought about by modern day advances in game design. Aggelos provides a very vast kingdom that you can explore. Forests, seas, cave systems, and ancient temples are just some of the environments you will go through as you seek to uncover the magical elements needed to save the world from total annihilation. Its non-linear gameplay means that it is up to you as to when and where you want to start adventuring.
As for its combat, you will be facing towering bosses and their crafty minions as you take on dangerous mainline quests or optional odd-jobs for the people of Lumen. To defeat these foes, you must unlock magical abilities and high combat attacks to increase your combat efficiency. Also, chaining these magical abilities and physical attacks results in immense powers that can wipe out entire screens worth of enemies.
Aggelos boasts a retro approach for the adventure genre, utilizing sprite art and remaining faithful to its inspirations by creating worlds, characters, and animations in 16-bit syle. Meanwhile, gameplay is submerged in a retro inspired soundtrack that fills the Kingdom of Lumen with life.
Aggelos will be releasing its physical versions for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on September 24 in North America and September 20 in Europe. No prices have been announced for its physical version releases. Aggelos is currently available digitally for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
