Anno 1800 announced that that its newest DLC, The Passage, is now officially out. This is both available as a standalone purchase and is included in the Season Pass. Aside from this new content, there's also a free update coming. If that's not enough, Anno 1800 revealed that it is available to download and play for free for a limited time beginning on December 11 and running until December 18.
The Passage allows players to search for new resources and opportunities in the frigid northern lands. This new DLC doesn't sugarcoat the realities of establishing an Arctic settlement. The journey to the icy shores of what is to become your new outpost is already riddled with situations where you need to make tough decisions.
Once you do manage to get your outpost started, you'll need to plan your layout, particularly with the new heating mechanic in mind. You'll need to make sure that your citizens are both warm and healthy. However, once you manage to construct a fleet of airships, you'll be able to start trade since this allows you to bypass the iceberg-ridden seas and sell your new goods in warmer climates.
The new DLC brings with it two new citizen tiers along with seven new production chains. There are also 32 new buildings, 60 new quests, and 80 new items, among many other new things.
If you think The Passage is going to be difficult, don't worry too much. The good news is that a free update has also released which adds a co-op mode to Anno 1800. This new mode can support a maximum of four factions and up to 16 players. The update also offers an in-depth statistics system which gives you a better view of your empire’s economy
That's not all, as with the holidays coming, you can now add a dash of Christmas cheer to your Anno 1800 cities. This Holiday Pack includes a range of cosmetic ornaments like a festive carousel, Christmas trees, and snowmen.
Anno 1800 said that with the release of The Passage, the Season Pass content for the game has now concluded. That said, the team over at Blue Byte will remain dedicated to continuing post-launch support. There is also a plan to release new content and features sometime next year which will expand the world of the industrial revolution.
