A new trailer from EA announces the Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass expansion will arrive March 14 for Season Pass owners, followed by a release for all BF1 players two weeks later. Check out the latest trailer video below:
"The hardened veterans of the French Army join the fight in the first Battlefield 1 expansion, They Shall Not Pass," read the YouTube trailer's description. "Get two-week early access to four all-new maps on the western front with a Battlefield 1 Premium Pass. Experience two new Operations, the new game mode Frontlines, new weapons, vehicles, and more."
The French Army, which was part of some of the deadliest battles in Europe during World War II, was curiously omitted from Battlefield 1 at launch. After some early outcries, EA is finally making things right with the new They Shall Not Pass DLC. The update features new weapons including the Siege Howitzer, Ribeyrolles 1918, RSC 1917, Lebel Model 1886, Chauchat, Sjögren Inertial, and the MLE 1903 Extended. Brutal melee combat weapons include the Cogwheel Club, the Nail Knife and the Trench Fleur. A new 'Trench Raider' Elite Class will be armed with a devastating Melee weapon as well as an arsenal of grenades. He's the perfect operative for the tight, close quarter combat that makes trench warfare. Next, new vehicles including the Char 2C and St. Charmond tanks.
Next, the trailer also shows off the new maps coming to They Shall Not Pass, including Verdun Heights, Fort De Vaux, Soissons, and Rupture.
Finally, the Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass expansion will also introduce the new Frontlines game mode to BF1. Teams must fight over a chain of objectives, where only one objective is active at a time, pushing the opposing team back with every objective taken. Once a team successfully pushes their opponents from an objective, it's a rush to plant a bomb to destroy the telegraph lines to finish the job or, if you're a defender, a desperate fight to disarm the bomb before it obliterates your line of communication. The round is officially over when a team successfully destroys two of the opponents' telegraph machines.
