After last week’s reveal of the Nintendo Switch, gamers have been wondering what new games will be available for the handheld/home console hybrid. While we may not know all the games planned for the new system, we do know a game that will NOT be coming: Borderlands 3.
This news comes straight from Gearbox head Randy Pitchford on Twitter. When asked about Borderlands 3 on the Switch, Pitchford replied with “I do not see that as happening.” It seems the company was in talks with Nintendo, but those talks stopped for some reason or another. According to Pitchford, Nintendo has other priorities, so they moved on.
As for other Borderlands 3 news, there really isn’t much to tell. It is confirmed that Gearbox is planning the game according to a presentation given at PAX East 2016. At the time, Pitchford announced that work would “begin soon” on the project. Seeing as how that announcement is getting close to a year old now, Gearbox should be offering up further details soon. Expect to hear more at the upcoming conventions this year.
So what do you think? Are you bummed to learn that Borderlands 3 probably isn’t coming to the Switch? What other games would you like to see on Nintendo’s new console? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
