Jagex, the developer behind the beloved MMO "RuneScape," is launching "Dragonwilds," a new spin-off title borrowing the elements of world-building, survival, and, of course, the dragons.
For PC gamers, the early access of the game will launch on Steam in Spring 2025. Imagine "Runescape" with a touch of "Valheim" and Minecraft in one game.
'RuneScape: Dragonwilds' Boasts Open-World Mechanics
Unlike the classical "RuneScape" games, "Dragonwilds" is an open-world game in the undiscovered lands of Ashenfall, an unexplored continent on the planet Gielinor. According to Polygon, the new survival game remains faithful to RuneScape's heritage while enhancing the RPG elements.
It's important to note that it thrives in Unreal Engine 5. What this does is create an engrossing, visually impressive world, giving the player a deeper sense of attachment to the world of "RuneScape" than previously possible.
Survival and Crafting Mechanics: Build, Explore, and Conquer
"RuneScape: Dragonwilds" is an authentic survival experience, with fundamental aspects of resource collection and crafting. Players will cut down trees, collect resources, and build houses as they venture out into the world.
Like in traditional survival games, the game pays off for exploration and creativity- unlocking new skills, crafting recipes, and fighting monsters, such as goblins, as you explore deeper into the harsh environment.
In "Dragonwilds," magic is the central focus, with players wielding a power called Anima. This magical energy is the key to surviving the unforgiving environment of Ashenfall and fighting the ferocious beasts roaming the wild. The ultimate mission? To kill the queen dragon that rules over this lost continent.
Ashenfall and Its Untold Secrets
The neglected continent of Ashenfall is full of rich, untold history, and it's here where players will put their survival skills to the test. The continent is infested with dragons, and players will have to use everything at their disposal to weather the inhospitable climate and deadly beasts that take up residence here.
The "RuneScape" lore that fans have grown to love is woven throughout the game's design, providing depth and layers of mystery as players discover the secrets and lore of the continent.
'RuneScape: Dragonwilds' is More Enjoyable With Friends
"RuneScape: Dragonwilds" provides a cooperative multiplayer environment, and you can join forces with a maximum of three friends, according to Bleeding Cool.
Enduring and dominating the land is more fun with friends to support you. Here, you can form strong alliances with your friends, create weapons, and repel the dangers that arise from the wild. Regardless of whether you play as a solo player or as a friend, the game will cater to all the playstyles you could think of.
