Boxing legend Mike Tyson is set to headline the Tekken 8 panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Titled "The Art of Fighting," it's scheduled tomorrow, July 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT at Room 6BCF of the San Diego Convention Center. Tyson won't be alone since he'll be joined by none other than Cris Cyborg, the only Grand Slam Champion in the MMA. Rounding up the panelist is WWE Superstar Xavier Woods a.k.a. Austin Creed.
The Tekken 8 panel at SDCC will bring together real-world and entertainment fighting and shared themes. The panel is also going to discuss the evolution of fighting techniques and how it changed the portrayal of fighting in games. One of the main features of the Tekken franchise is a roster of fighters with different styles based on at least 21 actual martial arts.
Meet the Panel
The three panelists are set to share personal stories taken from their professional careers. Those in attendance get the chance to learn what led each of them to embrace fighting, as well as what their experience when it comes to fighting culture in games and entertainment.
Tyson is known for his real fighting and has long been part of video game history by being one of the first pro athletes to be the face of a fighting game. Woods, meanwhile, continues to be the host of the YouTube channel "UpUpDownDown," which now has more than 2.4 million subscribers.
Cyborg, on the other hand, has long been considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. She is currently the featherweight champ in the Bellator Women's Championship. She is also the only fighter ever to have won the MMA Grand Slam.
The three panelists are joined on stage with Tekken director Harada and producer Murray. Helping guide the conversation is shout caster Goldenboy.
Tekken 8 Booth
The panel isn't the only thing fans can enjoy about Tekken 8. That's because Bandai Namco Entertainment America is featuring an immersive Tekken 8 installation at SDCC. There's a lot to enjoy including artwork, a non-alcoholic beverage station, DJ, cosplayers, temporary tattoos, and playable stations.
Tekken 8 is launching exclusively on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
