Bungie’s next big Destiny 2 update, Beyond Light, will remove a ton of content from older iterations of Destiny. The Destiny content vault (DCV) will cycle around content so that the game doesn’t feel stale and repetitive. The DCV will cycle between all the destinations and activities from both Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, which will ensure a different experience with every update for the DCV.
In a post by Bungie, the developers have shared more information on what content will be removed and cycled. The developers have also removed multiple destinations, activities, campaigns, raids, exotic quests, exotic weapon activities, crucible maps, gambit maps, strikes, and vendors. More details can be found in the DCV guide below:
Cut Destinations:
- Mercury
- Mars
- Titan
- Io
- The Farm
- The Leviathan
While it is sad to see some of these destinations leave, Bungie seems to be removing them because there aren’t many players who really visit these areas. When was the last time you visited the Leviathan? We visited it once after our quest completion and that’s about it. The farm and other destinations are also similar. We would only visit them for our quest completions and almost never return back.
Cut Activities:
- Gambit Prime
- The Reckoning
- Escalation Protocol
- Black Armory Forges
- Zero Hour
- The Whisper
- Various Crucible Game Modes
- Nightfall
- Niobe Labs
- The Menagerie
- Prophecy Dungeon
- The Tribute Hall
Some of these changes will help for the future of Destiny 2. Gambit prime and Gambit will be merged into a single new game mode, which makes a lot of sense as both game modes seemed like duplicates with small variations. The Nightfall playlist will be replaced by Nightfall: The Ordeal. This change will make Nightfall the only game mode. Some maps such as supremacy, countdown, lockdown, breakthrough, doubles, momentum control, and scorched will leave PvP game modes and will probably be replaced with newer maps.
Cut Raids:
- The Leviathan
- Eater of Worlds
- Spire of Stars
- Scourge of the Past
- Crown of Sorrow
It is very sad to see Bungie remove multiple raids which were known to be the core of Destiny 2. Bungie has only left The Last Wish and Garden of Salvation from the original raid playlists. This is the most disappointing change for the next update, even though Bungie will add new raids for the Beyond Light expansion.
Make sure you spend your time playing the activities and quests that are going to get deleted. Thankfully, it might take a long time for Bungie to cycle through the changes. Some activities we recommend are Zero Hour, as this activity will grant you the exotic weapon Outbreak Perfected. Additionally, The Whisper is also an important activity to complete, as you will receive the Whisper of the Worm sniper rifle upon completion.
So, what are your thoughts on Bungie’s DCV system? Do you think the changes Bungie has planned will work in favor of the community? Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
