Call Of Duty: WWII preloads have begun across PS4 and PC worldwide. While those who pre-ordered the game on Xbox One could start their downloads well over a week ago, now players on all three platforms have been invited to the party. The news was reported by CharlieINTEL over the last few hours.
The game’s preload size is significantly smaller than recently rumored file sizes led us to believe. In contrast to the massive 80GB requirement reportedly listed on retail PS4 boxes, the current download is just 56GB. It’s possible the 80GB listing was incorrect or just an estimate of the title’s full size including all Zombies and multiplayer DLC. The full download could get bigger as launch approaches as well.
With the preload process now underway, the last thing to worry about, of course, is unlock times. There hasn’t been an official announcement to that effect, but we don’t imagine a major game like Call Of Duty: WWII will deviate too heavily from standard triple-A practices. We expect preloads will unlock around 12 a.m. EDT on Nov. 3 for all platforms.
While most of the pre-order incentives for Call Of Duty: WWII have long since concluded, there are a few minor perks that can be unlocked by folks who decide to purchase the game in the coming days. Smaller rewards like weapon skins for Nazi Zombies and CoD Point packages are still available in most digital configurations. That stuff pales in comparison to September’s Private Beta, but at least it’s possible to get those goodies and start downloading the game immediately.
For those who simply can’t wait until next week, there have been quite a few leaks datamined from the PC open beta. All maps, modes, perks and weapons have been known for the past few weeks. Be warned, the respective links contain spoilers of all kinds.
Call Of Duty: WWII comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC Nov. 3.
