Call Of Duty: WWII ’s U.S. release gave rise to server issues early this morning, and Activision has responded quickly to user outrage. While tweets suggest most of the major problems have been fixed, the struggles are still real in plenty of isolated cases.
The bulk of the backlash came in around 12 a.m. EDT this morning, just as the region’s servers started going live to the public. Upon trying to connect to online multiplayer modes, early adopters were greeted with a “103295” error code and a message that read “the Call Of Duty: WWII service is not available at this time, please try again later.” It took a few hours to get that issue under control, but the fix didn’t arrive without brief outages across other Call Of Duty titles at the same time.
The “103295” error continues to be a problem for some, and a few new problems have cropped up since. One particular error has gamers stuck in a loop after a message that demands a restart of their game. Others are unable to change classes or weapons in pre-game lobbies without these sorts of messages appearing. We haven’t run into these shortcomings, but we’ll be sure to post any updates on the situation as they arrive.
The crux of the story at this point, however, is that those hoping to jump into a Call Of Duty: WWII multiplayer match over the next few hours may want to lower their expectations. Not only did review copies arrive late to most press outlets, but Call Of Duty’s massive fan base is also eager to start playing WWII as well. Considering it’s rated by Nielsen as this year’s most-anticipated game release, we imagine it will take some time for these heavily loaded servers to stabilize.
In the meantime, we encourage our readers to try playing Call Of Duty: WWII ’s single-player campaign instead. The game’s development team at Sledgehammer Games is known for its reliance on massive, cinematic set pieces, and every indication is that creators have continued to deliver on that front. The campaign follows Private “Red” Daniels of the First Infantry Division through several months of the conflict’s European theater. In this particular case, its best asset is that it doesn’t require fully functioning servers to enjoy.
Call Of Duty: WWII is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
