Capcom’s very own director Hideaki Itsuno has just confirmed that a development update on Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in the works. This is certainly good news as fans have been waiting for quite some time now on the progress of the sequel.
After over a decade of requests from fans and players alike, Capcom finally announced earlier this year that a sequel to the hit action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma is coming. Released in 2012, Itsuno has made it clear that things concerning the development of the follow-up title are doing well and that fans should have nothing to worry about. Although details are still scarce, this should somehow give fans the assurance that the game is indeed coming.
Itsuno is reportedly working so diligently on the sequel that he has started losing track of time. While he confirmed the progress of the game’s development, he did not really say much about the release date or any details about it. But based on how the development of the title has been progressing, players can expect more information to come out really soon.
"I'm currently immersed in the production of Dragon's Dogma 2, so much so that I'm losing my sense of what season it is," the Capcom executive said.
While it is official that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is coming, Capcom has been mummed and has not really shared any details about its status whatsoever. Not only do players have no concrete idea about its release date, but the studio has also remained radio silent about the platforms the game would arrive on. Considering the lack of details from developers, rumors about a 2023 release window might not just be true after all.
What we do know so far is that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be developed using the same engine as the Resident Evil games. Also, the game has been in development limbo for over three years now, despite being announced officially earlier this year.
If anything, players can hear more about the progress of Dragon’s Dogma 2 in 2023. Given the praise and success the first installment received, there is no doubt that the sequel would be a massive hit too.
