Get ready, CHIKARA fans, because CHIKARA Action Arcade Wrestling has been announced. This over-the-top wrestling game is currently on Indiegogo, working towards its goal of $25,000.
CHIKARA Action Arcade Wrestling is pretty self-explanatory: It’s an arcade-y old-school type wrestling game featuring CHIKARA wrestlers. The goal of the game is to provide wrestling fans with an easy-to-play alternative to the complex WWE 2K series, similar to how the NFL Blitz franchise was alongside Madden.
While the in-ring action is designed to be old-school, CAAW will still provide many features of a modern-day wrestling game. There will be ten initial game modes including one-on-one matches, tag team matches, battle royals, cage matches and more. The Indiegogo campaign also mentions more modes will be offered in future free updates.
Gameplay will be simplified down to two buttons, like the old wrestling games that came before it. These games, like Wrestlefest and Saturday Night Slam Masters, served as inspiration when developing CAAW.
While CAAW will feature CHIKARA wrestlers, the only confirmed wrestlers on the roster right now are Princess KimberLee, Hallowicked, Dasher Hatfield and Ophidian . There will also be a create-a-wrestler mode, which includes the ability to make custom arenas, title belts and federations.
As of right now, the lowest tier to donate to the project is $10, which grants you a 30-day trial to CHIKARAtopia, CHIKARA’s subscription video service. $25 will get you the subscription trial and a digital copy of the game. All tiers above that include more exciting rewards like shirts, masks and more.
CHIKARA Action Arcade Wrestling will be coming to PC on Steam, and is already greenlit on the platform. A release for consoles is also in the works, but the campaign mentions the timing of this release is greatly dependent on how well the campaign goes.
