Clash Of Clans fans can start celebrating Clashmas today, with the return of a beloved limited-time troop. As seen in the official trailer below, the Ice Wizard has returned to the game and is unlockable at Town Hall 5 and above.
As confirmed via leaks earlier in the week, it doesn’t look like the Ice Wizard offers any real change from what we saw last year. His stats appear to be the same, but here’s what they are in case you forget:
- Preferred Target: Defenses
- Attack Type: Ground and air
- Housing space: four
- Movement Speed: 16
- Attack Speed: 1.5 seconds
- Barracks Level Required: seven
- Range: three tiles
- Training Cost: 1,500 elixir
In terms of the larger strategy that entails, it’s worth noting the Ice Wizard prioritizes defenses in Clash Of Clans. His long-range attacks make him a great option to attack defenses from behind enemy walls. Especially if you barricade a bunch of Ice Wizards behind Golems or Giants, they’ll be extra difficult to take down. As with most limited troop introductions, however, most players just spam the new addition so it totally overpowers the existing meta. Especially as you hit higher levels with the Ice Wizard, that’s almost guaranteed to happen.
This is the second of three Clashmas gifts. The other two limited additions to the game include the Santa’s Surprise spell and the highly anticipated return of the Giant Skeleton troop. All Clashmas promotions are expected to be active through Jan. 3, 2018.
If some limited-time goodies aren’t enough to bring you back to Clash Of Clans, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that a supercharged version of the new Clan Games feature is happening now. Especially if you’re in an active clan with at least 15 members, there’s a chance to unlock huge loot rewards and Magic Items that speed up the game substantially. As is typically the case, it’s been a fairly busy winter for Clash Of Clans even if Town Hall 12 is nowhere to be found. The Ice Wizard will definitely change the balance over the holidays, but those who find him annoying will only have to deal with the bulk of it over a few days.
