Supercell, the developer behind hit mobile games such as Clash of Clans and Boom Beach, has released a new game for iOS and Android called Clash Royale. For the moment, Supercell has decided to soft-launch Clash Royale on iOS in Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, and New Zealand, and there’s no official word on when the game will see its wider release on the iOS App Store and the Android Google Play Store.
Casino Royale seems to be a combination of virtual turn-based card games such as the widely popular Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, with real-time lane-focused multiplayer such as League of Legends, topped with a healthy inspiration of mana-dependent gameplay a la World of Warcraft.
Oh, and throw in some Tower Defense in there for good measure. Watch the video below to see PlayClashOfClans showcase the gameplay in Supercell’s new Clash Royale.
The goal of the game is to destroy the other person’s three towers and capture their king while defending your own tower from real-time attacks. Your abilities and defense will come from collecting cards and upgrading existing ones, with each player bringing a different strategy to the battle depending on how their build their Battle Deck.
How a player uses his abilities is entirely depending on how they manage their mana, or purple elixir count. This means that you can drop four cards (the max in your hand) at once, but you’ll have to wait for your elixir bar to regenerate to be able to use any more cards/abilities/troops.
Destroying an opponent’s towers will result in winning Crowns, which can be used to unlock epic Crown Chests. Clash Royale players will also be able to make clans, share cards and compete in arenas and/or personal duels with their friends.
