Update: More passes to Coachella 2016 will be released Jan. 6. Keep an eye out 11 a.m. that Wednesday morning.
Coachella 2016 pre-sale tickets have been sold out for months now, having sold out in less than 40 minutes after the initial festival lineup was announced.
But those lucky enough to have snagged a ticket to the 2016 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival received some great news over the holidays: LCD Soundsystem & Guns N’ Roses are both reuniting for the Colorado Desert soiree.
LCD Soundsystem released a new song on Christmas Eve called Christmas Will Break Your Heart, stroking fruitful rumors that the band may have possibly been considering some sort of reunion after some heartfelt musings from James Murphy, LCD Soundsystem’s lead singer.
“This year, Al Doyle had a short break between hot chip tours where he could be in NYC, and Pat and Nancy were home, and Tyler agreed to fly out from Berlin for a few days, so we all recorded this together, reserved a pressing plant slot, and our friend Bob Weston was available to master it quickly,” LCD Soundsystem wrote in the YouTube description. “So that means, less than 2 weeks after we recorded it, there is actually a Christmas 7’, which feels like something that could only have happened a very, very long time ago.”
Murphy and the band last performed together during their iconic 2011 Madison Square Garden concert, which spawned a movie and was precipitated by almost a week of smaller shows around the New York City area.
If LCD Soundsystem and Guns N’ Roses announcements have convinced you to buy a Coachella ticket, there’s numerous ways to find one online but it will cost you a pretty penny. On StubHub, tickets are currently going for $516 for the first weekend, and $461 for the second weekend.
Prices for Coachella 2016 tickets on Ebay follow a similar price structure. The lowest ticket price for the first weekend is currently accepting bids at $450, while the lowest ticket price for the second weekend is currently accepting bids at $575.
On the higher end, numerous resellers are bundling camping passes plus general admission tickets, for roughly $900 onward.
On the Palm Springs Craigslist page, which is near to Indio, CA, tickets again hover in the mid-hundreds. One reseller has twelve tickets for the first weekend available, for $600 a piece, while tickets for the second weekend are going for slightly lower, or $575 a piece.
Once it gets closer to festival time, you may be more likely to find a cheap ticket on Craigslist than any other ticket reselling website. But there is one more option other than StubHub, Ebay or Craigslist: Seatgeek. Unfortunately, no Coachella 2016 tickets have yet been posted on SeatGeek, but make sure to check back in a couple weeks.
Alternatively, Valley Music Travel offers hotel travel packages for Coachella 2016. The packages are quite expensive, but they include multiple tickets per package. For example, a package containing three nights at a nearby hotel and two general admission tickets to the first weekend at Coachella 2016 can be purchased for $3,260. For the second weekend, a package including three nights at a hotel and two general admission tickets can be purchased for $3,085.
Last but not least, concert ticket reseller Vivid Seat is also offering Coachella 2016 tickets. Tickets for the first weekend on Vivid Seat start at $424, while tickets for the second weekend begin at $430.
