Adult coloring books are all the rage around the world — they’re so popular that The Independent reports that the world’s largest coloring pencil manufacturer, Faber-Castell, is experiencing "double-digit growth" and it’s hard for companies to keep up with the demand. Now, coloring enthusiasts that are looking for a more personalized coloring book can go to a new website called Color Me Book that transforms your Instagram pictures into black-and-white images on pages.
"My fiancé was coloring in an adult coloring book and I thought it would be a great idea to get a personalized one made with photos of our dogs," told Color Me Book creator Cory Will to Mashable in an email. "I was shocked I couldn't it anywhere. So I had a friend, who owns a print shop, make me one. When I showed friends and family my gift to her, the reaction was so positive. I decided to build a website on Shopify and we officially launched on [April 12]."
“The reaction so far has been incredible. We launched less than a week ago and have already received orders from the US, Australia, and the UK, bulk orders for events, and wholesale inquiries,” added Will to Buzzfeed.
Users simply go to the website, upload their favorite Instagram posts, and then receive their hand traced coloring pages. Will recommends opting for simple pictures. "I personally think photos of people and pets are the best," he says to Mashable. "I mean, who doesn't want to color in pictures of their pets?"
Technically, a user could submit any picture from any Instagram to be turned into a coloring page. But Will suggests being polite about it. "If you use a different [Instagram] account, you should know the person you are ordering for," he says to Mashable. "For example, a surprise gift or coloring books for a birthday party."
A book with five pages costs users $25. The website features pre-made books as well.
