Many world-class athletes and personalities have already made their way to "Fortnite," but this time, the game's latest collaboration brings forth one of the biggest stars in baseball, Shohei Ohtani.
One of the most revered athletes at present, the Japanese superstar is now heading over to has "Fortnite."
Ohtani is getting a dedicated cosmetics and item bundle on "Fortnite's" Item Shop next week, with this also marking the first collaboration between Epic Games and Major League Baseball.
Shohei Ohtani is Coming to 'Fortnite' Under a Special Bundle
"Fortnite" has got a treat for all baseball fans out there as the game recently announced the arrival of the first baseball star on the battle royale, Shohei Ohtani. A new trailer has been dropped by "Fortnite" featuring this upcoming drop, and it shows the two skins for the Japanese athlete.
First, there are the three different styles of his Los Angeles Dodgers uniform featuring the home (white), away (grey), and LEGO Style cosmetics of the baseball superstar. This bundle includes the Trusty Two-Way Pickaxe, which has Ohtani's number, and the Decoy Back Bling, which features the superstar's dog Decoy as a bobblehead figurine.
Alongside this, "Fortnite" has also included a Tokyo Series version of the athlete, featuring a Samurai Shohei Outfit that includes reactive animations, as well as a LEGO Style version. Epic Games also included a Baseball Batana Pickaxe to go along with the special reactive uniform, as well as a Samurai Screamer Back Bling in this new bundle.
There are also two emotes available for gamers to buy and equip in the game, including the Doggy Dingers Emote and the Hey Batter Batter Emote that features the iconic "magic wand" routine of Ohtani.
First-Ever 'Fortnite' x MLB Collab
This marks the first time that Epic Games and "Fortnite" have collaborated with Major League Baseball (MLB). Ohtani recently celebrated winning a World Series Championship in his first-year stint with the LA Dodgers, as well as bagging the Rookie of the Year and three MVP awards in the past season.
It is also not the first time that "Fortnite" has collaborated with world-class athletes who are at the top of their game, with one of the most prolific being the National Basketball Association (NBA) star LeBron James. The battle royale has also featured the likes of soccer's most prolific forward, Lionel Messi, alongside his former FC Barcelona teammate, Neymar Jr.
The game has also featured other recognized greats of their respective sports, including the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tennis superstar Naomi Osaka, and more.
This latest collaboration with Shohei Ohtani introduces a new sport to "Fortnite" under the special "Shohei Ohtani Cup" event, with this and his cosmetics coming by Week 4 starting this March 18.
