The IEM Global Challenge match between Astralis and NaVi just concluded. The matchup between the two teams was played in a best of three series. The semi-final match between the two teams was one of the most hyped games in the tournament.
Astralis picked Inferno as their starter map. Xyp9x started the game with an insane quad-kill, which was amazing to watch. Astralis was in a 2v5 situation that seemed almost impossible to win. Yet Xyp9x, being the clutch master, started killing opponents one by one with a pistol. Gla1ve was able to get one kill and planted the bomb while Xyp9x slaughtered the rest of NaVi.
Astralis won the first map with a 16-13 scoreline, which is a major improvement compared to the previous game against Vitality.
The second map was played on Nuke. NaVi was pretty confident in their map pick. It allowed them to win the second map without much difficulty. NaVi won the map with a 16-9 scoreline, taking the series to the final map.
The final map played on Train. It was the most nerve-racking match for both fans and players. Gla1ve played Round 18 extremely smart. He walked through NaVi’s smoke and just hid in there. While Gla1ve was hiding in the smoke, the rest of Astralis cut off NaVi’s rotations. And then, Gla1ve popped out of the smoke and showered NaVi with tons of damage.
Astralis closed the series with a 16-11 scoreline. We got to see Astralis come back to their original form, which is pretty fun to watch.
