One of the best looking games of the last decade is making a return. The original Crysis, which was released back in 2007 and melted half the gaming PCs on the market, is being remastered for this generation of hardware. The game will take advantage of new technology like ray tracing, Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA), and overall a better optimization for new CPUs.
Unfortunately, you will have to wait a little bit longer, as both the game and the gameplay reveal trailer have been delayed. The announcement was made via the game's official Twitter handle. The devs said that the game was delayed because they needed more time for polishing, however, they also mentioned that they are aware of fans' reaction to the leaks. Crysis Remastered's gameplay trailer was leaked a few days ago, and disappointed several fans as the graphics were not as good as many players expected. Watch the leaked trailer below.
It is confirmed that the game will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The port for next-generation consoles, aka PS5 and Xbox Series X, hasn’t been confirmed just yet. But given that new consoles are just around the corner, I have my hopes up.
Do keep in mind that Crysis Remastered only contains the main game. The standalone expansion pack Crysis Warhead is not part of it. Who knows, maybe if the remaster does well then Warhead might also get the same treatment.
Crysis Remastered was first teased back in April when the dormant Twitter account came back online and tweeted ‘RECEIVING DATA’. The game was officially confirmed on April 16 with a teaser trailer.
People have been demanding a new Crysis game for a while now. The last game in the series was Crysis 3, which released back in 2013, and as expected, the game's graphics were way ahead of its time. Even though Crysis Remastered is not a new game, it should still satisfy many of the series' fans.
