After a long streak of leaks and rumors, Crysis Remastered was officially announced last week. However, if you've been wondering whether Crytek is just starting to remaster the acclaimed Crysis franchise, you might be in for a delightful surprise. If you didn't already know, Crysis Remastered is being co-developed by Saber Interactive, the guys behind so many remasters for the Nintendo Switch.
In a now-deleted tweet, Tim Willits, the chief creative officer for Saber Interactive, has shared some amazing news regarding Crysis and the remaster.
"I always loved the Crysis games, and it's exciting to work with Crytek to bring these games to new audiences," Willits stated in the tweet. If you paid close attention to the tweet, you should see that Willits mentioned "games" and "remasters," indicating that there are more Crysis remasters in the works. Even though nothing can be confirmed as of now, if the first remaster happens to sell successfully, Crytek would likely plan to launch multiple other remasters. Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2 could both use a remaster for the current gaming generation.
For now, Crytek has just confirmed that the only game getting a remaster is the original Crysis. Check out the game's official description below:
"Crysis Remastered will feature the original game’s single-player campaign alongside high-quality textures, an HD texture pack, improved art assets, temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping, and particle effects (where applicable). Further additions like volumetric fog and shafts of light, software-based ray tracing, and screen space reflections deliver a major visual upgrade to this classic FPS experience."
Crysis Remastered is expected to launch for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime later this year. If the game is received warmly, we also might expect to see Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2 being remastered as well.
