The fight is over, and the smoke has cleared. Standing tall and taking home the crown in the recently concluded PUBG Global Championship 2023 is Danawa e-sports. With this, the team gets to bring home $600,000 along with an additional share from the Pick'em challenge crowdfunding revenue.
Danawa e-sports is a South Korean composed of Giyeol "seoul" Cho, Jehyeon "Salute" Woo, Min-joon "LeClo" Kang, Jungyoung "Loki" Park, and Heejoo "Inonix" Na.
The PGC 2023 Grand Finals took place in BCC Hall within Central Ladprao from December 1 to December 3 in front of a live audience. Teams played 18 matches that were spread across three days.
Showcasing their Skills
For Danawa, they started to show their stuff during the second day of the Grand Finals. They were able to dominate the lobby and increase their rank from 11th place and all the way to the top. To make this happen, the team made sure to exploit every chance that was presented to them. From there it became a three-way battle until the final match of the last day of the tournament. While Danawa managed to hold on to first place, 17Gaming and Twisted Minds very within striking distance.
Going for the Win
During Phase 4 of the last match, 17Gaming went for a rather risky rotation and this ended up with them being eliminated. That meant it was Twisted Minds that had the chance to dislodge Danawa. Later in that match, Twisted Minds was able to rotate on top of Danawa's position. However, when Salute realized this was the team that was standing between them and the championship, he immediately rushed over and managed to get two knocks against Twisted Mind. This more than guaranteed the win for Danawa.
At the end of the match Danawa managed to obtain 137 points. They were followed by 17Gaming which finished with 133 points and Twisted Minds trailing at third with 125 points.
Aside from the championship, team member seoul was named MVP with 25 kills and 14 assists. He gets to bring home an additional $10,000.
