Days Gone is almost here, which means it’s almost time for our Freaker killer Deacon St. John to ride off on his motorcycle and slaughter the undead by the hundreds while roaming the Pacific Northwest wastelands. But when exactly can you start exploring this post-apocalyptic open world dystopia?
As Days Gone is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, it will only be available on the PlayStation store. The title releases on April 26 at 12 a.m. EDT. This is good news for those on the west coast, as they can start playing at 9 p.m. PDT. Pre-ordering the title lets you pre-load it on the console, which helps you make sure that you don’t miss the action because it slipped your mind to download it (happened to me loads of times on a lot of different games by the way). To do this, simply go the “Purchases” screen on your PlayStation 4 and press the “pre-download” button when prompted to do so. Remember that the game is a whopping 67 gigabytes if you don’t go physical, which can take a long time to download on a PlayStation 4, especially if you’re on Wi-Fi.
Also expect some updates and patches to roll in, in particular one coming in at 17GB. An update numbered 1.3 contains localization which might account for its large size, as well as various bug fixes. Before this update, Days Gone will automatically patch to 1.2, which also fixes bugs and various issues.
Days Gone is also a fully-realized single-player experience only, meaning that you cannot play with other people. There are currently no talks or plans to add multiplayer modes such as co-operative or player-versus-player.
In addition to all of this, Bend Studio has gone ahead and announced an upcoming free DLC for the month of June. This DLC will include several challenges with PlayStation trophies assigned to them, as well as a new difficulty setting called ‘Survival’, which is said to be the highest one in the game.
So what do you think? Are you excited to play as Deacon St. John and murder hordes of freakers? Will you start right at midnight or wait until a more reasonable hour? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
