Publisher GungHo Online Entertainment and developer Supertrick Games announced the Deathverse: Let It Die release date for PlayStation and PC, with the free-to-play multiplayer survival action game coming to PS5 and PS4 on September 28 and PC via Steam on October 5. Last month, GungHo Online Entertainment announced that the game would be delayed due to the feedback received during the game’s beta. To celebrate the release date announcement, the publisher revealed a brand-new launch trailer for Deathverse: Let It Die, which you can check out below.
Deathverse: Let It Die is a spinoff of Let It Die, a free-to-play game on PlayStation 4 and PC developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, led by Goichi “Suda51” Suda. Supertrick Games is an offshoot of that studio, and will now solo develop Deathverse: Let It Die instead of Suda’s company. Following an open beta called Limited-Time Open Beta: Destroy the Server!, Deathverse: Let It Die producer Shuji Ishikawa announced that the game will be delayed indefinitely due to its results. It’s not a stretch to assume that feedback on the beta included negative criticism, with some most likely considered by developers to be a hindrance once the game launches.
It's also intriguing that Supertrick Games managed to rally quick and push the game out faster, with the delay being announced last August and Deathverse: Let It Die now set for release on PlayStation consoles this September 28. In any case, players will just have to wait and see if the game lives up to the hype and the delays it suffered along the way.
Unlike its predecessor Let It Die, which mostly features an action RPG design that overwhelms players with very hard enemies, Deathverse: Let It Die pits players against each other in a fight for stardom in a fictional reality TV show called the “Death Jamboree.” The reality show takes place in a virtual world called the Deathverse, created by the mysterious Yotsuyama Group as a destination for people’s souls. Sixteen participants compete in violent-filled rounds, all in the effort to put on a good show and earn “GP” from the audience by executing their enemies in various ways.
