Comic book legend extraordinaire, Stan Lee, has appeared in pretty much every Marvel movie and TV show to date from 1989 to present day. Though instead of having an actual one-line role in Marvel’s Netflix installments, Lee has set the tradition of appearing in a background photo as a high ranking NYPD officer.
In Jessica Jones and Daredevil, his face appears on a plaque inside a local station. In Luke Cage, he appears on a New York ‘See A Crime? Report It!’ sign outside a Harlem bodega. While we’re still waiting to see what Lee has in store for Iron Fist, his cameo for The Defenders has been leaked in set photos. This time around, we see Lee’s face on a variation of the sign from Luke Cage. The poster looks to be at a bus station and reads, “Not all heroes wear capes.” The photo, provided by Getty Images, can be viewed in the reddit embed below.
Stan Lee Cameo revealed in "The Defenders" set pictures. from marvelstudios
As much as I would have liked Lee to actually have a line or two in The Defenders, like he does in Marvel films, we can’t be mad at a 94-year-old guy who created pretty much every popular comic book character to date. On that note, watch all our favorite Stan Lee cameos here.
Iron Fist arrives on Netflix March 17, and The Defenders this summer.
