Destiny 2's massive upcoming expansion Beyond Light has been delayed. The expansion was first supposed to launch on September 22, however, the current pandemic has not been kind to game development. Due to the challenges faced by the developers, they had no choice but to delay the expansion. Beyond Light will now launch on November 10 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Check out the reveal trailer of the expansion below.
The announcement was made via an official blog post where Bungie explained the reason for the delay and why they think that the delay is necessary. “The past few months have been a challenge and will continue to be during this pandemic. We’ve learned to create together in a new way, by having to work apart from one another,” the blog post said. “Despite these hurdles, we’re still committed to the same level of quality that our fans expect.”
The unfortunate delay doesn’t mean that Destiny 2 is going to be vanilla until the expansion. The on-going Season of Arrivals has also been extended to accommodate for the delay. It is extended to November 10 as well. The devs also released the updated roadmap of the Season of Arrivals which you can read below.
“Over the coming weeks, we’ll be unveiling more of what we’re working on for Beyond Light and what that also means for Season of Arrivals, which will now extend to November 10,” Bungie said in the same blog. “Beyond Light sets the stage for an incredible future in Destiny 2 and, though it’s coming later than we originally anticipated, we’re excited to continue that journey with you this November.”
Beyond Light is one of three upcoming expansion packs. The other two expansions are Witch Queen (2021) and Lightfall (2022). Destiny 2 will also launch on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Existing owners of the game will get a free upgrade.
