The second of three planned Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris preview streams will air on Tuesday, Bungie and Activision have confirmed, offering an extended look at the Infinite Forest and other new content from the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion. And there’s another teaser trailer, much like last week’s, to get fans excited about the next Curse of Osiris broadcast.
Last week, the Destiny community got its first glimpse at the return of Osiris and the upcoming re-ignition of mankind’s war with the Vex. An early cutscene introduced the infamous Warlock and his Ghost, Sagira, and established early on that time travel will play a major role in the next chapter of Destiny 2’s story. The broadcast included brief looks at the Infinite Forest, accessible from Mercury’s patrol zone, along with an updated version of the Lighthouse that some fans visited in D1. We also got to see the new armor that Guardians will find on Mercury. The bits about Raid Lairs weren’t as popular — turns out that the one thing people have been demanding for three years is still important to them; who would’ve guessed? — but most of the big reveals from the first Curse of Osiris preview seemed to go over well with the community.
This week, Bungie says we’ll get a much closer look at the Infinite Forest. We already know the sprawling simulation will utilize a rotating pool of developer-designed maps, instead of a handful of static environments, and Guardians will get to see bits of the planet’s past, present and future. But it’s not clear how far Bungie plans to take its exploration of time travel in Destiny 2. Will we get to see different futures, based on potential outcomes of the battles ahead, or witness major events from pre-D1 sections of the timeline?
