Destiny 2 game director Christopher Barrett confirmed on Twitter the shared-world shooter’s next expansion will arrive this May, six months after the Curse of Osiris disappointed Destiny fans around the globe. Bungie also provided a detailed timetable of features the studio plans to add, change or fix before DLC 2 arrives, including the next “season” of content for Destiny 2.
Barrett wrapped up the first month of the year with an update on Bungie.net intended to clarify the studio’s development goals for the first half of 2018. Some of the content on the attached roadmap was already available in game, like the Masterwork Armor that debuted this week, and others (like a reduction in duplicate exotic drops) we’ve known about for weeks. Anyone still investing significant time into the shared-world shooter will undoubtedly be pleased to see Nightfall scoring on track to return by the end of February. And Bungie managed to include a few surprises on its latest development roadmap, too. Players can look forward to new Crucible quitter penalties during the first half of 2018 and the introduction of seasonal vendor progression. We’ll even get Private Matches and a vault space increase before summer. Here’s the full breakdown:
Additional details on the roadmap will be revealed in this week’s “This Week At Bungie” update, along with future written updates from the dev team. And when players weren’t sure whether or not the May timeline for Season 3 meant the game’s second expansion was just around the corner, Barrett was quick to provide confirmation for that too. We still don’t know exactly when the next Destiny 2 DLC will hit PC and consoles. But (barring any major setbacks) the absolute longest we should have to wait is another four months.
