With Doom Eternal nearing its launch, the devs at id Software have begun speaking a lot about what the game has to offer. The official launch trailer for Doom Eternal was released last week, showcasing some of the wackiest cosmetics for the Demon Slayer. Now, there was a question lingering in my mind (and probably in your minds too). How in the hell are you supposed to be getting these cosmetics? Well, in the latest id Software dev diary, Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin discuss Doom Eternal's live-service elements. Check out the video below:
TL;DR: You'll be able to earn XP simply by playing Doom Eternal's various game modes, including the story and Battlemode. This simply implies that Doom Eternal will feature several free add-ons and limited-time events. In the dev diary, Stratton says Doom Eternal to have some sort of seasons, which means the game will be supported as a service, just like the Division 2.
Now, most of you might be wondering if Doom Eternal would be playable if your PC or console isn't connected to the internet? Well, thankfully you can still play the game and complete the story campaign. However, you will not be able to earn any XP or online rewards.
Doom Eternal will bring hell to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on March 20. From what we have seen so far, Doom Eternal looks lik one hell of demon-killing frenzy. If you've played Doom 2016, DOOM Eternal takes everything that worked in this version and ramps it up extensively. The Doom Slayer has been made even more powerful, as have his foes who are going to give him a tough time too.
id Software has claimed that they have just begun creating the Doomiverse with Doom Eternal and we very excited to get our hands on the game when it launches on March 20 globally.
