The Group Stage of The International 10 is finally over. There’s no question that there were really interesting matches. The remaining Dota 2 teams are now preparing for the Main Event, which most fans also call the Playoffs. The initial matches start tomorrow.
Before we look into the team placements, let's check who's going to the Upper Bracket for each group. It's also worth mentioning that two teams have been eliminated and these are South American teams Thunder Predator and SG E-sports. Still, they bring home $100,000 each.
Group A
For Group A, the teams heading to the Main Event through the Upper Bracket are:
- Invictus Gaming
- Virtus.pro
- OG
- T1
Looking at the results, it’s surprising to see that Evil Geniuses did not make it to the Upper Bracket. They still have a chance through the Lower Bracket but it’s a rather difficult road for them to get the Aegis.
How our prediction fared: Our prediction for Group A was okay overall. While we did say the EG would get one of the top four spots, we also said that OG was the dark horse. Still, we were expecting either VP or T1 would be the teams to give way to OG.
We admit that we underestimated Team Undying, who has been doing pretty well so far. In fact, they actually had a chance to get to the Upper Bracket but that's a story for another time.
Group B
In Group B, the teams in the top four positions are:
- PSG.LGD
- Team Secret
- Vici Gaming
- Team Spirit
How our prediction fared: Like the prediction for Group A, we got one team wrong. We expected Elephant to be one of the teams entering the top four. We initially thought we had it right but when Spirit defeated Elephant, we knew that the latter was in trouble.
Main Event
