Dying Light 2 just got a name change. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2015 game will now be called Dying Light 2 Stay Human. Gamer developer Techland hosted an online reveal yesterday that showed off more gameplay and information about the world and story. The most important info was the release date, which is on December 7, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The title, however, will not be available on Nintendo Switch.
Dying Light 2 was initially supposed to launch in spring 2020. But due to some development problems and COVID-19, the game was indefinitely delayed with no release date in sight. The delay was so long that the developer had to assure fans that the title is still very much in development. There were also reports that the game has fallen into development hell.
Techland has decided to host episodic online events, much like Cyberpunk 2077, where every episode shows new details about specific game elements. Episode 1 was a little more than 30 minutes long and was focused on the city’s environment and player choices.
The sequel is set 15 years after the events in the original game. We also saw a closer look at our protagonist, Aiden, and the city’s environment now described as the modern Dark Age. More information about the game’s choices and consequences was unveiled as well. You can watch the entire event below.
The Dying Light 2 map is bigger both horizontally and vertically. The parkour of the game has been drastically improved with over 3,000 different animations, and you will now have choices about how you want to approach an enemy. You can choose to be tactical or use brute force, or you can be innovative.
Previously leaked, Dying Light Platinum Edition was finally confirmed. The said edition contains every single piece of content released for the original game. Its normal price is $100 though, at a 75% discount till June 10, or easy grab for $25. You can purchase it on Steam.
