You may have heard that Bethesda is working on a new mobile game, but Todd Howard teased the company is also developing two bigger games as well. The real question is, what could these new games be?
According to an interview with Glixel, Howard announced Bethesda is hard at work on three new projects. One is a mobile game, and the other are more what people expect from Bethesda.
“ We have two larger projects that are more classically the scale of what we do, but even bigger,” Howard said. “We overlap the projects so we're working on them at the same time, but they're staggered. I can't talk a lot about them, but I can say that they're bigger than anything we've ever done. They're a bit different, but definitely in the wheelhouse that people are used to from us."
Most people are probably thinking that Bethesda will go from a Fallout game back to an Elder Scrolls game, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Both Howard and VP of marketing and PR Pete Hines have confirmed that Elder Scrolls VI isn’t in the works, and won’t be for a long time.
Wait, does this mean we’ll be getting something new from Bethesda? That could be really cool! Alternatively, Bethesda could be working on an in-house Fallout 4 spin-off. When Fallout 3 was released, Bethesda worked with Obsidian to make Fallout: New Vegas. We have heard rumblings about a new Fallout set in New Orleans, but how often do Bethesda rumors turn up fake? Seems more often than not. This is just a thought, so don’t take it as fact.
Whatever it is, expect Bethesda to continue the trend of late announcements with a short time between reveal and release. This means we probably won’t have any new games coming at Bethesda’s E3 showcase this June. Game development takes a long time, and it sounds like whatever these games are, they’re going to be big.
