Europa Universalis IV is more than ready for the release of its upcoming Emperor expansion. This one offers new gameplay opportunities for the Holy Roman Empire, Papacy, and even Revolutionary movements. It also opens up three central game systems. There are also more than 20 new unique missions included in the expansion. Emperor arrives to Europa Universalis IV on June 9.
Before we go to the other features, let’s start with the new gameplay opportunities. These are the New Holy Roman Empire Systems. In this one, the power and authority of the Emperor is set to be challenged by various imperial incidents. Ultimately, the decision is going to be a choice between having a centralized monarchy or going for a decentralized federation.
Then there’s also A Powerful Pope. With this the Papacy can appoint cardinals, publish Papal bills, and even collect tithes. Both the Vatican and the Papal Controller also offer new abilities which can put things their way.
New as well are the Revolutions Revamped. When it comes to the Revolution, its spirit can either be embraced or opposed. Revolutionary guard units can now fight reactionaries not only at home, but even abroad. Meanwhile, The Hussite Faith has been given an early game chance to embrace heresy and go against the Pope, until The Reformation arrives, that is.
Here are the other features with the Emperor expansion:
- Hegemonies
- Players can now go for global leadership, especially if they get enough wealth and armies. However, they need to prepare for some opposition, especially from those who are questioning their right to rule.
- Defender of Faith
- They say that with great power comes great responsibility. Now defending a major religion is truly different from defending one that is rather insignificant.
- The Council of Trent and Counter-Reformation
- Defenders of the Catholic faith need to slow down the Reformation. They can do this by strongly imposing the will of God or go for concessions with an unruly mob.
- Provoke Rebellions
- Rather than wait for discontent to take its natural course, players can now go and risk a larger rebellion if they think they can manage it.
Europe Universalis IV: Emperor arrives on June 9 for the suggested retail price of $19.99.
